Your Say

This paper receives a lot of letters, tips, information and complaints about Council!

However one recent letter touched me so I thought I’d ask loyal readers if you can help out a  good man who’s doing it tough in later life.  Errol wrote to me about the tragic and unexpected sudden death of his wife at Manning Base Hospital.

I contacted him and learned in passing that he is at the end of his rope over his lonely future and selling his home in Taree but it needs some TLC he is not able to do any more.

Errol wrote  . . .

“I purchased our house in Taree after the passing of my mother with plans for my wife and myself to renovate the house and make it our home. However my wife has now prematurely passed away, after what I believe to be inadequate care by Manning Base hospital. Due to my health  I can no longer finish the renovation to the house on my own, so I will have to sell it at a great financial loss!

I am a 74 y/o retired tradesman, and my only income is my Aged Pension, so I cannot afford to pay someone else to finish the renovations that we started!

My house needs painting inside and outside.

Some Gyprock repairs and floor coverings inside.

I already have around 50 M2 of Vinyl Planks I have bought for some of the floor.

Also, some gardening and yard work outside needs to be done.

I have had to take out a small mortgage for the repairs, so I can afford to buy any materials I need, it is only the labour I cannot afford.

I have been suffering depression and miss my wife. If there is any way I could get some help I would be so grateful.”

Errol.
