It’s A Cool Summer!

One of the best things about summer fashion here in Australia is that we get to observe what has happened in the European summer and take our cues from there. It means we get a clearer picture of what trends to embrace although Australians tend to embrace a more casual style. 

As the days are heating up and getting longer, everyone looks forward to having fun and incorporating something fabulous and new into their festive season wardrobe. This year there’s plenty of new trends to wrap your head around but also lots of styles that are here to stay- here’s a roundup of some of the best!

Monochrome or matching print suiting and two pieces are a current style staple and offer versatility-Wear together and make a statement or wear separately with other plain coloured wardrobe items to get lots of life and wear out of these. Its time to embrace the bold and intermix prints, be brave and tell minimalism to move over!

Zesty shades of citrus and blues are flattering on every body and something we will see all summer long and into the winter too, so these are good colours to invest in.

Volumous sleeves, oversized dresses and boxy or super flowing shapes hide a multitude of sins and were all the rage in Europe.  I’m sure over the festive season this is a look we can all enjoy. Figure flattering and cool is something we’re all after!

Classic all white and new neutrals are still strong looks for summer. Elegant and fresh styling in linen or cotton works well here and again offers so much versatility in your wardrobe, layer when its cooler or breeze through super-hot days in breathable fibres.

Summer footwear is about comfort and style- we’re seeing lots of natural textures and platform soles. While you can’t go wrong with a classic sandal, don’t forget your little white sandshoe through summer- wear unlaced for a casual take on in this look.

Soft leather and rattan bags, or woven jewellery add texture and interest to any outfit. And don’t be afraid to bling things up a little with beads or metallic jewellery, especially over the festive season.
